Co-op Rates during the Academic Year

The co-ops are collectively owned by the students that live in them. Thus, because there is no landlord making a profit, the co-ops are the best deal in town. Budgets are collectively set by the members every spring and cost substantially less than private housing or residence halls.

Room and Board Co-op Houses

THE RATES FOR FALL 2008/SPRING 2009 HAS REMAINED THE SAME FROM LAST YEAR.  The cost for the 17 room and board houses for Fall 2008/Spring 2009 is $3,048 each semester, which is about $760 per month. Moreover, for those who take advantage of the free month during winter semester break, the cost is more like $677 per month. The cost is the same regardless of room size with the exception of Hillegass/Parker house which has larger single rooms which cost $3,585 each semester.

The price includes much more than just a place to live, the cost includes:

  • food
  • utilities
  • furniture
  • a rich social environment
  • co-op wide workshops, social and educational events
  • additional amenities depending on each co-op

Additional amenities range from hot tubs, saunas, newspaper and periodical subscriptions, game rooms, exercise equipment, audio/visual equipment and much more. See the descriptions of our different co-ops for more information.

The Apartments

The apartments don’t come with food service, so they cost less than the houses. You should be aware that it is very unlikely to be assigned to an apartment for your first semester as a USCA member (although being assigned for summer housing is common). The apartments’ rent differs depending on how many bedrooms the apartment has, as well as the apartment complex.

Fall 2008/Spring 2009 Apartment Rates

Rates are Per Person. The contract period for fall and spring is about 4 months each semester. We only offer contracts for the full academic year with the option to cancel the Spring 2009 semester by November 12th.
