Assistant to the Member Resources Supervisor

The Assistant to the Member Resources Supervisor puts together the Member Resources Newsletter every week, takes minutes for the Social Managers’ Underfunded Collective (SMUC), and helps to create Member Resource programs.

Daniel is currently looking for photos and new House Descriptions to incorporate into the Owners Manual for the 2008-2009 school year. Feel free as well to give send him ideas about what members want in the MRN: health tips, blurbs on co-op life, etc. Please email him if you have suggestions or if you have questions about the Member Resources department or the Member Resources Newsletter.

      

      

Coordinator for Outreach, Diversity, and Anti-Discrimination (CODA)

The CODA monitors hirings at the USCA in order to ensure fairness and legality, and also produces a pairity report to make sure that the USCA represents its surrounding community in ethnic diversity. The CODA also provides training for the implementation of the Sexual Harrassment and General Harrassment policies, and hears member's informal grievances regarding harrassment and discrimination.

Got a problem with your house or with the USCA? The Member Advocate is a Board elected position that assists members in resolving their disputes with their house, apartment, or the USCA as a whole. The Member Advocate will help you to resolve your case and, if necessary, present it to House Council, the Administrative Committee, or the Board of Directors.

      

      

Disabled Access Coordinator

The Disabled Access Coordinator (DAC) provides outreach to and advocacy for our members with disabilities, training for managers and staff on issues pertaining to those with disabilities, and assistance to houses and apartments to houses and apartments in making reasonable accommodations for our members with disabilities.

      

      

Hiring Commission Chair

Because the USCA is a democratically run organization, we hire all of our compensated central level positions through the Hiring Commission (HiCom), made up of USCA members who have recieved HiCom training.

The HiCom Chair coordinates and facilitates all hirings and conducts HiCom trainings each semester. HiCom members are compensated at the workshift rate for the time they spend in hirings. HiCom Trainings occur every semester, so be on the lookout for this opportunity to earn some extra money and to have a role in deciding who works for the co-op.

      

      

Conflict Resolution Coordinator

The Conflict Resolution Coordinator (CRC) provides the membership with a variety of services to assist members experiencing conflict. The CRC can give personal advice and counseling to members who want to explore their options in resolving a conflict they are experiencing, serve as an impartial mediator between parties of conflict, and help facilitate house or management meetings when a particularly controversial agenda item is discussed.

Health Education Coordinators

The Health Worker Program is part of the University Health Services. Students apply to be Health Workers, and when accepted to the program, work in your house or apartment by providing information on health issues including nutrition, stress management, and sexual health. Health workers are also available for confidential consultation.

Emergency Services Coordinator

The Emergency Services Coordinator (ESC) assists house level management to maintain the Earthquake Preparedness Kits in each of the houses and apartments, and coordinates the USCA's overall emergency response.

Katie also coordinates CPR/First Aid trainings and other emergency preparedness education. In addition the ESC is available for assistance with fire drills and other emergency preparedness activities.
