The USCA Waste Reduction Mission
To reduce the amount of waste produced and shipped to landfills by the USCA and its members by means of education about waste consciousness, recycling, reuse, reduction, and conservation. To reduce the number of trash pickups throughout the USCA by increasing the proportion of materials recycled and composted, thereby diverting waste from landfills and reducing costs.
USCA Waste Reduction and Reuse Program
The USCA Waste Reduction Program coordinates the handling of recyclables such asaluminum, glass, plastic, cardboard, mixed paper, and cooking grease. The USCA also coordinates the collection of food waste for composting and safe disposal of electronics and toxic materials. The USCA Reuse Program consists of Free Piles in each of the houses that encourage the recirculation and reuse of items such as clothes, toys, and school supplies.
