The University Students’ Cooperative Association is proud to announce the appointment of Martin Reed as the new Executive Director.

The scope of Martin’s professional background is diverse and blends perfectly with the broad range of job duties required of the USCA Executive Director position.  Throughout his career, Martin has been known for developing effective teams, serving as a strong student advocate, and as an effective leader during a period of extreme growth and change at the University of California, Irvine (UCI).  He successfully worked with University faculty, staff and students to create unique academic theme and Greek communities that fostered an atmosphere of mutual respect and responsibility within the community.

Martin brings with him over ten years of student housing experience from UCI.  He began his career in student affairs as a Residence Life Coordinator where he developed student leadership programs that empowered students to develop their communication abilities, conflict resolution skills, and knowledge of issues related to diversity. Prior to being appointed Director of the Arroyo Vista Housing Community he gained valuable experience while working as the Associate Director for Operations and Residential Life.

Martin is looking forward to working with the USCA members, alumni, student Board of Directors, and long-time staff members to develop long range strategic plans that will help the USCA continue to fulfill its mission of providing safe, educational, and affordable housing to college students.

Martin received his Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication Studies at California State University Northridge.  He completed his graduate work at Clark Atlanta University, where he earned a Masters in Public Administration with an emphasis on public policy. In his free time, Martin enjoys traveling, snowboarding, visiting local farmers’ markets and playing basketball.
